We started off our New Year 2017 with our annual Vasilopita Luncheon to benefit St. Basil’s Academy. Philoptochos would sincerely like to thank Andreas Dionyssiou and his faithful crew Andreas Proestou, Kip Proestos, Harry Dean Proestos, Nick Bekos, George Bekos, Frixos Stylianides and Randy Lizcano for their special chicken dinner. We would also like to thank Steve Jenkins and Phillip Dionyssiou for the generous donations and set-up for the refreshment bar. We are grateful to everyone for all their hard work. Thank you for all the bakers of the delicious Vasilopitas, especially Dawn Anagnos for the large community Vasilopita. Pam Martin was remarkable along with this hard-working and devoted committee of Pauline Biernacki, Faye Grevis, Yanula Stathulis, Ann Mulopulos, Pattie Senerius, Angie Bohland, Jeannette Stambolis, Kathy Chaka, Presvytera Ann Hadgigeorge, Paula Dionyssiou, Chris Grevis, Dorothy and Manuel Yakumithis, Olympia Ntakos, and Maria Melas. We are grateful for the community’s support and generosity.
One of our National Projects is “Wear Red for Women”; February is Women’s Heart Health Awareness Month. Philoptochos will host a Heart Health Seminar after our Divine Liturgy on February 12th. Lori Kamilaris and her committee will be organizing and an informative and educational program for our parishioners. We are asking you to “Wear Red for Women’s Heart Health Awareness” Philoptochos will be hosting our Loukoumathes Sale for Valentine’s Day during coffee.
Our Philoptochos will host a Pan-Orthodox Lenten Retreat at Holy Trinity on Saturday, March 18th. A great day is in the planning for a rewarding event. We hope to see many of you there.
